Loving Brian Kenny

by Erik on May 1, 2008

I am loving the art of New York City based artist Brian Kenny and the Superm collective.

SUPERM is an international multimedia art team founded by Russian author and artist Slava Mogutin (b. 1974) and American artist and musician Brian Kenny (b. 1982). Having joined their forces in 2004, both artists come from completely different backgrounds: Siberian-born Mogutin was exiled from Russia at the age of 21 for his queer writings and activism; Kenny was born on the American military base in Heidelberg, Germany, and grew up traveling throughout the US with his all-American, Catholic, military family. They are responsible for site-specific, multimedia gallery and museum shows in New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Moscow, and León (Spain).

Beautiful Photography

by Erik on April 21, 2008

Montreal-based Mikel Marton has spent his short career exploring issues of mythology, religion, male sexuality and beauty, on both sides of the camera. His photos are dreamlike constructions, all parts of larger narratives that range from the very real, to the very surreal. He’s a man on a mission to make ordinary men gods, and fantasy reality. Or maybe the other way around.

Mikel is certainly a sexy photographer with beautiful pictures. Read the interview by East Village Boys here.

Larsen Gray Debut

by Erik on April 21, 2008

My dear friend Nora Caliguri from Season 1 of Project Runway just debuted her newest eco-friendly collection. It’s called Larsen Gray and can be viewed online at ShopBop.

Designer Bio: Larsen Gray (from shopbop.com)

Inspired by adventure, Larsen Gray is perfect for women who want to look a little eclectic, but still retain a polished sense of style. Offering artistic detail and exhibiting a flair for the exotic, Larsen Gray is designed by Pratt Institute alumni Nora Caliguri and Rachelyn Porter. After graduation, Nora appeared on the first season of Project Runway and parlayed her success into a designing job. Meanwhile, Rachelyn worked at Chanel before teaming up with Nora to design Larsen Gray.

And a little interview by the boys at Project Rungay here

Check out this article on Taikomochi male companions.

I give women things that men normally don’t do, like complimenting their appearance,” says one host, 24-year-old Yunosuke, who only goes by his single host name. “I make women happy.”

And they make him happy: Yunosuke says he earned more than $200,000 last year, enough to let him visit a salon once a day to have his hair dyed and blow-dried.

If I made $200k as a trannylicious hooker like my friend Yunosuke up there, I’d sure find a new salon.

West Village Townhouse

A West Village townhouse in New York is transformed from a dark and cluttered building to an open, glass-faced 5 level home. Designed by architect Steven Harris, the difference between before and after is unreal. (Oh, and did I mention it was purchased for $3m and is selling for over $13m? How’s that for an ROI.)
