About
This is a technology driven website about Life, Art, Photography, and Design. Modernomics* is a fictitious word used to describe contemporary design culture and the modern lifestyle. The site is obsessively updated by me, Erik, a twenty-something design student living in Pennsylvania.
About Me
I‘m a transplant from New York City, currently studying design in Pennsylvania. I have spent the last 5 years working as a published photographer living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Hell’s Kitchen. While my most recent travels have given me the opportunity to study product design while working as a technologist.
I love the work of artists like Jack Pierson, Matthew Barney, John Currin, Jeff Koons, and Sean Mellyn; fashion icons like: Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe, Stefano Pilati, and Tom Ford; Photographers Cindy Sherman, Larry Clark, Bernd & Hilla Becher; Industrial Designer Dieter Rams; and last but not least, the number 1 transexual in the world, Amanda Lepore.
Art does not solve problems but makes us aware of their existence. It opens our eyes to see and our brain to imagine. —Magdalena Abakanowicz
About Patrick

Patrick Fleming introduced me to the world of fashion, art, and photography. When I first moved to New York, this man took me under his wing, believed in me, and mentored me like I was his little brother. He told me stories of his days in New Orleans, his job as Men’s Buyer for Prada and Yves Saint Laurent, and his work at Comme des Garçons.
Patrick and I quickly became best friends. As life would have it, our friendship was cut short and he left this world on September 23, 2006. He will be missed dearly. I will always remember his smile, his laugh, and his love of life.
Patrick Fleming was the reason I became a photographer, and ultimately a student of design. This site is dedicated in his memory.
